Build your confidence outside the classroom through Le Cercle Français, a free tutoring program, and Club Français, the department's student society.
Students also receive personalized academic advising and can tailor upper-year studies toward literature, linguistics, translation, French-Canadian studies, or Francophone cultures.
Get paid work experience
Dal Arts students can apply for the FASS Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Pilot Program, which offers a one-semester paid work term where you put what you learn in the classroom into practice, build career-ready skills and gain experience in the workplace.

Arts students can take their learning beyond the classroom through the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences’ experiential learning program.

You can also add French to virtually any ÈâÈ⴫ý degree through a double major or minor. Build valuable communication skills while gaining a broader international and intercultural perspective to complement your studies and future career.
Choose the French degree option that fits your interests and goals. You can focus your studies with a Major or Honours, combine French with another subject through a Double Major or Combined Honours, or add French to another degree as a Minor.
If you’re interested in graduate studies, an Honours degree is normally required.

Students at all levels of proficiency in French have the opportunity to spend a winter term (or full year) in Dijon, France. Ìý
Students with intermediate or higher-level French skills have the opportunity to study in Agadir, Morocco, or participate in an intensive three-week program in the French Territorial Collectivity of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, located just off the coast of Newfoundland.

Admission requirements
Minimum admission requirements
To be considered for admission to this program, you must meet minimum academic criteria:
- Completion of secondary school (Grade 12)
- Achievement of the minimum average for your program of choice.
- Completion of Grade 12 English (or equivalent course).
Admission to many ÈâÈ⴫ý programs is competitive. This means that meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.

International students are welcome to apply and must meet ÈâÈ⴫ý's undergraduate admission requirements, including English language proficiency requirements where applicable.
Applicants completing the French Baccalauréat should follow ÈâÈ⴫ý's admissions guidelines for that credential.
